Hackney Carriage car hire, Islington N1, fleet- one x Armstrong Sidley, offered a chauffered car hire service

1957

“Arthur’s”, Green Grocers, Southgate Road, Islington, N1, recognised the potential of selling fruit and vegetables

1960

“Howard’s”, Two Green Grocers both called the same name, Barnet, EN5, continued to expand within the same market by acquiring two more outlets

1962

“Theresa’s”, Florist, bought the shop next door to “Howard’s” and named it after the eldest daughter, Barnet, EN5

Generation 2:            Theresa James, Clare Seeley

1970

Grange Hotel, sold all London assets and moved to Southbourne, Bournemouth to buy a hotel on the cliff top and diversify into the hospitality industry

1973

Holiday Flats, quickly identified the towns potential and acquired two holiday flats in Bournemouth

1975

Greenways Rest home, diversified once more into residential care, Southbourne, Bournemouth

1983

Cliffeside Hotel, bought the second hotel in Bournemouth

1985

Queens Hotel, bought another hotel in Bournemouth, sold the Grange Hotel in the meantime, re-branded to “Arthur Young Hotels”

1986

Fairlawns Rest home, renewed interest in care for the elderly, Southbourne

1986

Cumberland Hotel, acquired another hotel in Bournemouth

1988

Trouville Hotel, the purchase of this hotel made the company the biggest group of hotels based in Bournemouth

2003

Sold the company

2004

Hinton Firs Hotel, restarted the company, due to unparalleled demand. Bournemouth would not be the same without a hotel under the guiding influence of Arthur & Angela Young

2005

Piccadilly Hotel, acquired the Country’s leading dance hotel, Bournemouth

2007

Sold the Piccadilly Hotel to focus all attention on the Hinton Firs Hotel as the company's foremost asset.

Present

Known as “Angela Young Hotels Ltd”, the company continues to pride itself on delivering a standard and quality synonymous with the very best that Bournemouth has to offer.
